‘ Brunch in Little Saigon ’
by H. P Lovecraft
Have you ever had a fancy for something exotic that you feel will never happen?
Well that was me until 2 months ago. I dreamed of a meal in a Vietnamese restaurant circa French occupation. I pictured a fancy French/Vietnamese Fusion ,with a well disciplined staff serving very appetizing meal that challenges your odorat.
Living in California there is very little chance.
Well recently I got fairly close to my dream. My son Frantz was going away for some study and my birthday was fairly close he won’t be there, he contacted his 2 brothers Jen-Jacques and Arian ,they decided to take my wife and I to a family brunch. Jean-Jacques took charge of the location, He picked a Vietnamese restaurant that has a reputation of being constantly full, so we waited outside for our table( 12seats)
<It gives me such pleasure and joy to be in my sons company their wives and grand children>
I was finally going to eat in a Vietnamese restaurant Mind you it was far from that fancy restaurant of my dreams, but that will do. We ordered food with strange names 75/100 was satisfied, my salad was excellent ,but my fruit drink aside of being on the sweet side had my full attention, (made of a sort of passion fruit. Grand-daughter Eliane (2years old ) enjoyed all my light crackers.
Time to go home ,we hugged each other , and embarked in our cars , me with a fine souvenir of the Garlic and Spice in little Saigon California. Dream partially filled.
